Convergence… when sectors meet

convergence_compil_EN

This publication, the second in the BearingPoint Key Insights collection, incorporates most of the Convergence Letters circulated by BearingPoint over the past six years.

These Convergence Letters advocate crossing the four main economic segments of telecommunications, energy, utilities and the media. They discuss international examples and economic models to propose succinct and original focuses. This exercise has demonstrated the relevance of looking at crossed factors between these sectors: for instance, the success of smartphones and multiplay packages has hastened convergence between telecoms and the media; the development of “smart meters”, for example, clearly illustrates how utilities and telecoms are coming together.

This publication Convergence… when sectors meet is structured around six main themes:

  • regulation;
  • innovation;
  • new services;
  • customer relations;
  • emerging markets;
  • sustainable development.

These themes highlight how quickly these four sectors are evolving and the particularly dynamic underlying trends.
