Convergence Letter 16: Smart cities in the emerging countries

There are three main models in the development of Smart Cities:

  • The economic model aims to create big business centres.
  • The economic model spurs the development of ‘connected’ cities through cutting-edge communication infrastructure.
  • The ecological model is based on sustainable development and environmental conservation.

 

Smart Cities are thus the answer to different issues: the access to secure and reliable transports, the development of education and research institutions or the excellence of public services.
