6th edition of the Sourcing Monitor: "What about sustainable purchasing - myth or reality?"
This survey about sustainable purchasing was conducted among 305 European purchasing directors, coming from France, UK, Ireland, Germany and the Nordics.
TALKING POINTS:
- The implementation of a sustainable purchasing strategy is driven by 3 main factors: risk control (42% of interviewees), regulation (25%) and value creation (25%).
- 70% of French companies consider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to be a strategic element of their communication plans; such “overcommunication” in response to regulation is less evident in other European countries: only 57% in the Nordics and 46% in Germany share the French opinion.
- A mere 16% of French companies have implemented sustainable purchasing plans for more than two-thirds of their product portfolio compared to 23% in Germany and 47% in the Nordics.
- Some ideas to go beyond impediments such as the inconsistency with short-term objectives: implementing a sustainable TCO-model, finding new opportunities in the regulation or involving suppliers in the innovation process.
