Amsterdam, July 24, 2020 – A highlight from last month’s SAPPHIRE NOW® Reimagined was the industry cloud launch. In a follow-up interview Peter Maier, President of Industries and Customer Advisory at SAP, explains the benefits of SAP’s new industry cloud to customers:

Industry cloud is the innovation platform and space for SAP where customers and partners build industry cloud solutions and applications that complement the intelligent suite using the Business Technology Platform.

In the interview Maier highlights BearingPoint: “Another interesting example is what SAP is doing with BearingPoint to reimagine equipment and tools management in the cloud. The new solution, known as ETM.next, is built on SAP Cloud Platform and offers next-generation capabilities that customers need to unlock additional value in equipment fleets.” He states that BearingPoint reimagines ETM (Equipment & Tools Management) in the cloud.

ETM.next by BearingPoint which was co-innovated with several European customers is not only replacing the old solution but delivers next-generation capabilities required based on customer demand. ETM.next covers the end-to-end process of handling the internal and external, inbound and outbound fleet and rental use cases of customer resources. It provides comprehensive support for resource planning and can be integrated into the SAP landscape.

Comprehensive support for resource planning

When BearingPoint established Business Services as a business unit in January 2019, one main intention was to develop Co-Innovation on SAP® Cloud Platform. In this context, BearingPoint invented compelling services that are beyond SaaS to ensure customers business continuity by combining its long consulting history, technology experience and scalable expert power. With Business Services, the management and technology consultancy now provides powerful applications built on SAP Cloud Platform and deeply integrated in its customers SAP ERP application landscapes.

We are very proud about the strategic collaboration with SAP. ETM.next is a great proof point of how we co-innovate with SAP in the industry cloud. We joined forces to help customers create smart, best-run businesses.

Donald Wachs, Global Leader Business Services at BearingPoint

To further enrich SAP’s industry solution portfolio, partners with industry expertise are motivated to develop application extensions. A prime example for this approach is how BearingPoint developed the new Equipment & Tools Management solution, in close collaboration with SAP.
