Adaptability is the principle of success. This also applies to companies. Today, it is more relevant than ever to count as an adaptable and flexible organization to react quickly and sustainably to changes. In order to accompany such changes with appropriate measures, usually change management is used.
At BearingPoint we see Change Management as a discipline that helps managing the change in organizations systematically. Change Management focuses on the people in the transformation. The technological, process-related and methodological success factors are considered from the perspective of the needs of employees, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders.
However, our experience shows that Change Management is often implemented shortsightedly and with a lack of inclusion of the object of change. We see daily that inadequate Change Management results in:

With our practice-oriented and holistic approach we aim at sustainably anchoring change in organizations. It is a framework in which methods and content can be individually adapted to the requirements of each organization. We thereby focus on both the scope of the change as well as the change execution.
Stakeholder & risk analysis: Early detection of an organization’s change readiness as well as human-related risks through an “Organizational Risk Readiness Analysis”.
Change vision & strategy: Definition of project vision, key messages, common goals and expected benefits in a targeted “change strategy”.
Change management concept & plan: Identification of specific change activities, resources, and dependencies in a “roadmap”.
Monitoring of change management measures based on previously defined target criteria and values as well as the optimization of the strategy formed of the insights gained.
The traditional approach to Change Management includes a detailed planning of all change activities as well as the use of best practices. However, accompanying various transformations we have seen that every organization in its own is a complex and adaptive system that reacts in its unique way to changing circumstances. It is not enough to execute change activities with a selective involvement of those affected. Rather, a step-by-step approach is required to absorb people’s reactions to change and to respond to them appropriately while still being in the process of change.
This is why we have developed our Agile Change Management Framework.
The Agile Change Management Framework is our answer to the demand for flexibility and a framework for implementing change with fast feedback loops. It is an iterative process to react early on to the feedback of those affected by the change. The reaction of those involved in the change is recorded and integrated into the change’s further course. With the Agile Change Management Framework, an organization is changed through experiments, in which those involved break down complex change processes into measurable and quickly realizable events and process steps.
The Agile Change Management Framework starts with defining the scope. Defining the scope sets the basis for the iterative process of insights, options and experiments in which the overall change is broken down into small, manageable activities.
This step is about the identification of the willingness to change, the assessment of the various stakeholders and the identification of problem areas.
In this step hypotheses are derived from the previously identified problem areas. Also, potential measures are defined and prioritized.
The third step is all about executing out the defined measures. This includes the design, the execution, and the review of the defined change measures.
