Be an Innovator Student
Be an Innovator Student is a challenging idea contest for students in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Romania hosted by BearingPoint.
The winners of this year’s start-up contest Be an Innovator Student by BearingPoint have been selected! Eleven student teams from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Romania qualified for the grand finale in Munich, where they presented their digital project ideas in front of the BearingPoint and Wayra jury. Team ReGreen from Austria won the first prize with their cleantech start-up for carbon calculation and carbon offsetting.
On 10th May 2019 eleven teams presented their digital project idea in front of the BearingPoint and Wayra jury and showed a wide variety of innovation and creativity.
The finale took place at Wayra, the start-up initiative of Telefónica, in Munich. Here, young start-ups and entrepreneurs work on innovative business ideas everyday. The open characteristic of the location was the perfect surrounding for the Be an Innovator Student finale 2019.
The first place, with a prize money of 10,000 Euro and one year of consulting from BearingPoint and Wayra, was won by the Austrian Team ReGreen from the University of Vienna. Christoph Rebernig and Karim Abdel Baky founded a cleantech start-up, which does carbon calculations and carbon offsetting for corporates. They are aiming to certify products, services and mobility as carbon neutral. To become the fair-trade seal for carbon offsetting and the biggest provider of carbon offsetting for flights are their long-term goals. With the support of BearingPoint and Wayra they want to push their Blockchain solution ahead to guarantee their clients a complete transparency when compensating emissions.
The team now has the opportunity, with the support of BearingPoint and Wayra, to realize their idea and to take the next step with their start-up.
We are very pleased about winning the first prize of this year’s “Be an Innovator Student” finale. With our cleantech start-up ReGreen we want to achieve that handling the good flight travels will get more mindful. We are very happy, that BearingPoint often uses the train as a mean of transportation and is going to compensate the remaining greenhouse gas emissions with mindfulflights.com in the future and thereby enables climate neutral flights for the employees.
