We have divided our recruitment process to three steps which allow you to meet and discuss with many of our consultants along the way. Tips for the case interview

The best advice we can give is to be yourself when it comes to job interviews. However, one can always be well prepared. Here are some tips on how you get the most out of the BearingPoint interview.

  1. Remember there is no single right answer to any case – what is important is that you walk your interviewer through your logic and provide a defendable conclusion
  2. Listen to the interviewer and ask clarifying questions to understand what is actually expected from the case
  3. Don’t worry if the case is from an unfamiliar industry. We’re looking at problem solving skills and how you tackle the issue at hand. Conversely, if it is from an industry you know, be careful not to make implicit assumptions
  4. Begin the process by setting a structure for how you are going to approach the problem. Don’t feel obliged to use a standard framework because it may limit your thinking and hence the quality of your final solution
  5. Ask the interviewer follow-up questions if you feel those will help you give a better answer
  6. Work through the case logically and follow the structure you selected to use. Draw clear conclusions from your analysis so that your reasoning is easy to follow. Also, conduct your analysis out loud; otherwise we might not see the whole process behind your reasoning
  7. Make quick and accurate calculations where necessary. We might include numbers in our cases to see if you can prioritize issues and understand their quantitative impacts
  8. Listen to any tips your interviewer may give, they are there to help you crack the case
  9. Use business judgment and common sense when solving a case to prove your hypotheses and ensure that solutions are realistic
  10. Remember to include an actionable final solution along with recommendations that answers the original problem that was presented
