Rosa: "I wanted to try management consulting, and I came across BearingPoint’s Trainee recruitment post. I knew someone who had been a Trainee at BearingPoint before and after talking with them about their experiences, I decided to apply. And after four months, I can say I am happy that I applied!"
Väinö: "I was always interested in problem-solving and working on diverse projects, which led me to consider that I wanted to try consulting before I graduate. I remembered BearingPoint from the Aalto Talent Expo and after a moment of researching the job advertisement and the company’s website, I decided to send the application."
When sending an application, we were asked to submit our CV, cover letter and transcript of records. The interview process consisted of two interview rounds. The 1st interview was held remotely via Teams and focused on discussing skills, background, interests and expectations. We also got to know BearingPoint as a company better and heard more about the Trainee position. In addition, a mini case was included in the interview. The 2nd round interview was organized at the BearingPoint office (remote option possible as well) and consisted of a more comprehensive case exercise and a discussion around ways of working and work personality. The recruitment process overall went smoothly, and we were well informed throughout the different steps.
I usually do 3-4 days a week at the office and rest from home. The best days to come to the office are Fridays when we have candies to grab after lunch or when we have dogs at the office. When I come to the office, my day starts with breakfast porridge and coffee at the office around 8:30. I eat breakfast and check my emails and today’s to-do list. Then I usually have meetings about proposals or internal development projects I am working with. Around 11 or 11:30 we usually head for lunch somewhere around the office. My favourites are the salad at Fazer or poke bowls. After lunch, I continue working on the proposals or internal projects I have going on and usually have a few more meetings. I usually get to finish my day around 16-17, and then it’s time to head home!
I start my days at 8 am by checking my emails and other internal messages. I was involved in a client project all fall, which meant that I had a morning meeting at 8.30 every morning related to that project. Usually before lunch, I tried to work efficiently for a few hours on my project tasks. After lunch, I usually continued my independent project work before afternoon meetings. In the afternoon, there were usually meetings where we together shared our progress and other updates.
Rosa: "My highlights have been learning a lot new about consulting as a job and BearingPoint as a company as well as all the events and activities we have had (after works, pre-Christmas party, beach volley and monthly massages to name a few)."
Väinö: "My highlights have been participating in client meetings, which gave me valuable insights into real-world consulting dynamics, and enjoying the pre-Christmas party, where I had the chance to connect with colleagues in a more relaxed and festive setting."
Apply on time, prepare for the cases but also remember to practice answering the fit interview questions and be yourself!
