BearingPoint Ireland has recently undertaken project work with Localise Youth Volunteering, which has been empowering young people to be of service to their communities since 1972.

Rooted in a broad, holistic understanding of education, Localise Youth Volunteering programmes provide a liminal space that amplifies personal, social, educational, and economic outcomes for young people. As Ireland’s National Youth Volunteering Agency, working in and through schools and youth services, Localise has a vision of a world where all young people can have the opportunity to volunteer locally and become proactive citizens and community leaders.

"Every year we conduct our annual Christmas appeal, which isn’t simply about raising money for people experiencing homelessness. By using what we in our line of work call ‘modelling behaviour’, the staff delegation from BearingPoint, empowers students from Larkin Community College in the North East Inner City to be the change-makers in their community. Every day the students see people on the pointy end of the homelessness crisis on the streets outside of their school, and for many, they have a desire to do something practical to help. Because of the generosity of BearingPoint staff, those students are able to deliver vouchers, cards and gifts into the hands of people using homeless facilities in their community. The project has tremendous significance as a learning event. Additionally, by gifting vouchers, they in turn are empowering people using the homeless services to have an element of financial autonomy."

In the group photo below, we have Larkin Community College students with their teachers and representatives of BearingPoint as they get ready to visit the service users in Dublin Simon Community to deliver Christmas gifts, handmade cards and vouchers.
