London/Frankfurt, July 1, 2013 - Management and technology consultancy BearingPoint was named a “Contender” in the IDC MarketScape “IT Services Providers in the EMEA Utilities Market 2013 Vendor Assessment” (doc #EIOS02V, May 2013). Currently BearingPoint runs several major projects at international utilities firms. The consultancy is, for example, engaged by a major global utilities provider to create an IT infrastructure service center with the ambition to reduce IT infrastructure costs by 30 percent within two years. Another project for a major European utilities firm concentrates on Smart Energy, helping the client to define its strategy in the field of Smart Grid technologies and new services for customers using Smart Meters data.

Natalia Krasnoperova, Partner and Global Segment Leader for Utilities at BearingPoint, commented: “BearingPoint is delighted to see its capabilities and credentials for Utilities recognized by IDC.”

IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific vendors can be meaningfully compared. The framework also provides technology buyers with a transparent foundation to allow companies to independently compare the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective vendors.
