Amsterdam, June 11, 2024 – BearingPoint is proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially validated and approved its near-term science-based emissions reduction targets .
BearingPoint’s pledge to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 53.8% by 2030, from a 2019 base year, aligns with the most ambitious aim of the Paris Agreement—to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Furthermore, BearingPoint will reduce its Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel by 55% per full-time employee (FTE) within the same timeframe.
These targets represent BearingPoint’s firm commitment to comprehensive climate action, extending beyond its immediate operations to encompass the broader impacts of business activities.
By setting science-based targets, BearingPoint is not only taking action to reduce its environmental footprint but also leading by example, encouraging partners and clients to join them in this vital journey towards sustainability.
Tackling climate protection is a collective endeavor that necessitates action from all sectors of society. Each extreme climate event makes it abundantly clear that individual efforts, while commendable, do not suffice to address the scale of our climate challenges. Businesses, as major contributors to carbon emissions, have a particularly critical role to play, especially given their resources, influence, and innovation potential. We need to integrate environmental responsibility into our core strategies to drive progress towards a more sustainable future. It is only through the concerted efforts of individuals, communities, and corporations that we can hope to mitigate the impacts of climate change and protect our planet for future generations.
