Dublin, 15th November; 2013: BearingPoint, the management and technology consultancy firm which employs over 200 people in Dublin, will have a major role in the project to develop and rollout the new Irish postcode system. BearingPoint will be working with Autoaddress and Capita.

The Minister for Communications, Mr Pat Rabbitte TD recently announced that he had won agreement from the Cabinet for the rollout of a new national postcode system that will provide a unique seven-character code to every letter-box in the State by 2015 1.

“BearingPoint has been working on this initiative for over three years, so we are really pleased to be part of the team which will implement this important Government initiative,” commented Niall O’Reilly, Director, BearingPoint Ireland. “The development will bring exciting opportunities across many Irish businesses and sectors as well as major benefits for consumers.”

Under the new system, Ireland will be the first country in the world to have a postcode that uniquely identifies all properties. This will assist individuals, public service bodies and businesses to accurately locate homes and businesses in Ireland.
