BearingPoint Ireland staff presented a cheque for €10,000 to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) on Wednesday, 1st October, 2014 after completing an 800km cycle over four days from Mizen Head to Malin Head to raise funds for CRY.

CRY is a self-supporting registered charity which raises awareness of cardiac risk in young people, supports research and health checks to identify those at risk and provides counselling and support to families affected. Monies raised by BearingPoint staff will support vital, life-saving screening services. The screening service is free and offered to family members who have lost someone to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).

Peter Minogue, Managing Director, BearingPoint Ireland said: “As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, BearingPoint supports our employees in undertaking events such as this. We have supported CRY over a number of years and encourage staff to participate in these events. From the outset our cyclists set a fundraising target of €10,000 and since then the cyclists, staff and their supporters have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal. We are delighted to have reached our target and I want to sincerely thank our staff, family members, business partners, friends and acquaintances for their generosity in helping us to meet our target.”

Orla Durkan, CEO CRY, said: “CRY are very grateful for the ongoing support we receive from BearingPoint. It was great to see so many staff involved in the cycle and we would like to thank everyone at BearingPoint for the monies raised and commend the cyclists particularly Gary Mullane, Colm Murphy and Sharon Moore for completing the Mizen to Malin challenge. The funds raised will be used to screen families who have lost someone to SADS.”
