As Leinster Rugby's Official Innovation Partner, BearingPoint will be inviting fans to join us in the "virtual stand" when Leinster take on Munster on Saturday, August 22nd in the Guinness PRO14.
BearingPoint teams up with Leinster Rugby to provide fans with an all-new virtual fan experience
The initiative calls on supporters to submit supporting videos and photos to be played for the team during warm-ups
BearingPoint Ireland Partner and Country Leader Eric Conway: “As the team lines out for their first game in front of an empty stadium, it is so important that we all pull together to show the team the support and momentum that is behind them.”
Dublin, July 30, 2020 – With the 2019/2020 Domestic and European rugby season resuming behind closed doors this August, Leinster Rugby’s Innovation Partner, BearingPoint, is inviting fans to join an all-new virtual fan experience in support of the province. The ‘Lineout4Leinster’ initiative will allow a select number of season ticket holders and official membership holders to log in to their virtual stadium using Microsoft Teams where they can interact with other Leinster Fans and recreate the live match experience.
Ahead of the team’s next game against Provincial rivals Munster on Saturday, 22nd August, BearingPoint is also calling on Leinster fans to send in short video messages or pictures in support of the team. These clips will then be compiled into a short video compilation to be played
Commenting at the announcement Kevin Quinn, Head of Commercial & Marketing at Leinster Rugby, said, “The last few months have been difficult for everyone and there is no doubt that we have some way to go yet. However, we have seen some positive signs over the last few weeks none more so in a sporting context than confirmed dates and fixtures for Leinster Rugby matches to look forward to.
“The pandemic has challenged us to look at how we work and operate, and at Leinster Rugby we have been delighted with how all our sponsors and partners have rallied around and supported us as a club. This initiative from BearingPoint is a brilliant example of that support.
BearingPoint have brought their creativity, and unique technology management expertise to benefit Leinster Rugby as an organisation, to benefit our players by creating a sense of support in the stadium and of course our fantastic supporters who are hugely keen to enjoy the live match day experience but understand the constraints we are working under.

“Nothing replicates being at a match and we very much welcome this initiative from BearingPoint. Enabling Leinster Rugby supporters to virtually #lineoutforleinster in Aviva Stadium on August 22nd provides a unique and innovative way to help bring some of that match day magic to supporters’ homes and in return, make sure the players know that our support is there for them when they run out on the pitch in a few weeks time."
Also commenting at the announcement was Eric Conway, Partner and Country Leader of BearingPoint Ireland. “Like many people, I am really excited about the upcoming rugby season, and I for one, am particularly interested in seeing see how technology can play its part in engaging fans in the coming months.
As the team lines out for their first game in front of an empty stadium, it is so important that we all pull together to show the team the support and momentum that is behind them.

“Thankfully Leinster Rugby will have all the options available to offer the best possible fan experience remotely and digitally. There are some home comforts in having technology and data direct to the living room and with a variety of planned innovations, the fans can still influence and interact with the players through the big-screen displays. I’ve no doubt that it will be an exciting season, and I look forward to joining fans in the virtual stadium on August 22nd.”
