Southern Port Data Center of Sberbank created with support of BearingPoint
Moscow, April 10, 2013 - Southern Port Data Center (DC) of Sberbank has received an International Uptime Institute Tier III reliability certification. The Global Data Center Authority awards Tier III certification only to data centers with very high standards of redundancy and availability. The Tier III certification was granted after analyzing the results of five days of rigorous testing run in August 2012 when various disaster situations were modelled. All tests were passed leading to a certification for not only the design and build but also the continuous reliable operation of this data processing center.
Working with management and technology consultancy BearingPoint, Sberbank chose a high-performance energy saving technology infrastructure that complies with current best international practice. This allows the Southern Port Data Center to standardize maintenance of its banking processes and significantly reduce the time to market for the bank’s new products. BearingPoint was chosen as Sberbank’s independent consulting partner in this project because of the track record of working with leading banks and financial institutions, coupled with international reach and independent advice. BearingPoint’s consultants supported the Sberbank Data Center creation process from feasibility study and provider selection through to solution design, implementation and final certification. “The Sberbank Data Center is an example of how we can deploy best international practice that meets the needs of these flagships of the Russian economy”, commented Natalia Krasnoperova, BearingPoint Russia and CIS Practice Leader. “The Data Center created by Sberbank not only meets international standards and requirements but in our opinion can serve also as a hallmark solution for Russian banks seeking higher performance and quality of service.”
“The role of an independent expert performed by international consulting company BearingPoint was not only that of a quality control but also in providing access to proven knowledge and solutions brought in by the company’s consultants who have worked with leading international banks. This allowed us to save time and money”, noted Sberbank Senior Vice President Viktor Orlovsky. “BearingPoint consultants’ support was one of the key factors in success of the project.”
