"Outside of project work, I am also a QA Learning Champion at BearingPoint. I help new hires onboard into QA, guiding them to the right training resources and certifications."

My Role

I joined BearingPoint in April 2022 as a Technology Consultant, after completing my master’s degree in computer science in 2020. Currently, I am working on one of the largest government projects at BearingPoint Dublin.

My role primarily focuses on enhancing client service capabilities by ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, particularly in software development. As part of this, I am involved in the QA team, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment. I am deeply involved in developing and implementing test strategies, plans, and processes to establish quality benchmarks and standards for all deliverables. To ensure these standards are met, I oversee both manual and automated testing. I work closely with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that all requirements are clearly understood and that quality expectations are met. Additionally, I ensure timely communication and resolution of any issues that arise.

My role also includes continuously improving QA processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, quality, and delivery speed. This often involves the introduction of new tools, automation, and techniques, making sure the QA function stays ahead in terms of innovation and best practices.

Normal Day

I start my day with a shot of espresso! My mornings begin with conducting stand-up meetings with the team, ensuring no one is blocked or waiting on approvals. This gives me a clear understanding of what everyone is working on. The rest of my day is focused on test strategy and planning, collaborating with developers and business analysts, and engaging in client meetings and proposals, including participation in new project planning. Some days I work on client site, which is great for in-person networking and relationship-building.

Outside of project work, I am also a QA Learning Champion at BearingPoint. I help new hires onboard into QA, guiding them to the right training resources and certifications. BearingPoint encourages continuous learning, even covering fees for certifications. We truly believe in the power of learning.

Outside of the Office

After wrapping up work in the evening, I enjoy going out for a coffee or taking a walk with friends around Grand Canal Dock in the city. I also make time for the gym, as it's important to move after sitting at a desk all day. On weekends, I love trekking, with my favourite route being the Cliff Walk from Bray to Greystones - one of the most popular attractions in the area. I often end the trek with a nice meal at the Happy Pear café.
