The annual study, which assesses the digital maturity of 86 Dutch companies across 13 sectors, highlights IKEA's strong performance in digital innovation. KLM and ABN AMRO are praised for their impressive digital advancements. Eneco stands out for raising consumer awareness of sustainable choices, scoring higher in this area than other surveyed companies. The study evaluates companies on four dimensions: Digital Marketing, Digital Product Experience, E-Commerce, and E-CRM, and identifies two key trends shaping digital transformation in 2024:
Generative AI (GenAI): The New Engine of Digital Innovation More than 50% of the surveyed companies now use AI tools, primarily for personalizing customer interactions and automating processes. GenAI plays a key role in optimizing digital strategies through the use of smart algorithms and data-driven insights. GenAI transforms customer interactions by enabling hyper-personalization. Think of AI-driven recommendations, virtual assistants, and real-time analytics that help companies better respond to customer needs. This technology also offers opportunities to streamline internal processes, from automated content creation to efficient data processing.
Sustainability: Digital Strategy as a Catalyst for Green Transformation Sustainability is a strategic necessity, and the study shows that companies are increasingly integrating sustainability into their digital strategies. This ranges from promoting sustainable products to designing circular business models and transparent communication about environmental impact. Sustainability also proves to be commercially attractive: younger generations, such as Gen Z and Millennials, spend more with brands that prioritize sustainability. The report indicates that 80% of the surveyed companies actively promote their corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental awareness initiatives through digital channels.
