In just a matter of weeks your organization gets assessed on 15 data capabilities. Based on the assessment you will be provided with clear and concrete next steps on how to become a data centric organization!

BearingPoint’s Assessment Framework

The BearingPoint Data Maturity Assessment is based on the BearingPoint methodology for becoming a data centric organization. This comprehensive framework presents a thorough look of data maturity in your organization and helps to plan and run data centric organizations.

On the highest level it focuses on six data enablers:

  1. Approved data goals
  2. Common view on data
  3. Data analytics
  4. Data management
  5. Data provisioning
  6. Sustainable foundation

It further looks at key success factors that will make or break a data centric transition.

On a more detailed level, 15 key data capabilities are analyzed to create a complete overview of the state of your organization.

The assessment evaluates each capability individually but also the relation between the elements to provide a broad perspective. As a result, both people working in the organization as well as those leading it gain insights on specific elements that can be improved. To get a fair assessment, the organizational and transformational context of the program is considered. As a result, the assessment goes beyond mere observations and includes interdependencies and initiatives that are already taking place. This information then forms the foundation for recommended improvement actions. Organizational leadership can use these to not only improve the organization, but also use it to measure improvements.

Key assessment principles

The BearingPoint Data Maturity Assessment uses 4 key principles to ensure quality and transparency of the results:

  1. Confidentiality
Information gathered during the assessment will be anonymous, and not traceable to individuals. This creates an open interview atmosphere where people feel free to express themselves.
  2. Holistic
The assessment looks at all elements of the BearingPoint Data strategy model from multiple perspectives and takes the organizational and transformational context into account. It does so by collecting information from many different sources (e.g. documentation, stakeholder interviews, observations, etc.) and takes the environment the organization operates in into account.
  3. Evidence & Fact based
Information gathered during the assessment will be checked for factual accuracy. This means that there needs to be proof of interview findings in documentation or observation and vice versa. In case some items cannot be confirmed this will be clearly stated.
  4. Fair hearing
Information gathered during the assessment will be checked with multiple parties to hear all sides of the story. This gives a complete picture of the situation with informed conclusion of the status of the organization and can shed light on how the data maturity is perceived by different stakeholders.

Assessment outcomes

Each data maturity assessment has several standard deliverables.

  1. Data maturity overview
A snapshot of the data maturity of your organization. Per data capability an evaluation is given on the maturity.
  2. Recommendations
Based on the assessment, a recommendation of how to move towards a higher level of maturity will be delivered. This includes actions needed as well as a planning estimate.
  3. Kickstart of your data program!

The overview provided by the assessment result helps to align views, raise awareness, and can act as a start of a data maturity improvement program.
