As sustainability has become a priority topic, more organisational commitments are being made to reduce environmental impact. However, many organisations are struggling to enact their ambitions as they overlook the complexity of engaging employees toward achieving newly formed sustainability goals.
We see two main causes to this phenomenon. Firstly, corporate change initiatives are often met with resistance which in case of sustainability change can take the form of scepticism by many stakeholders, including own employees. This is why mobilizing the workforce to harmoniously act towards achieving sustainability goals can be a challenging exercise. Secondly, fragmented sustainable initiatives are lacking impact and differentiation potential to enable real sustainable organizational change; increasingly, there is need for a unified and integrated approach.
