Management and technology consultancy BearingPoint helps implement SAP® ERP, enabling ALROSA to optimize and unify business processes

Moscow, March 24, 2015 – In cooperation with the management and technology consultancy BearingPoint, Russian mining company ALROSA, a world leader in the diamond mining industry, has successfully implemented SAP ERP. The system optimizes and unifies business processes and is a source of consolidated and up-to-date information for 3,500 employees across 56 ALROSA business units. Launched in 2012, the implementation project has resulted in the creation of the company’s business process model and a centralized information space called ALROSA Corporate Integrated Informational Management System.

One of the main reasons ALROSA partnered with BearingPoint was due to the extensive work the European consultancy has done in change management, especially related to company business process transformation and the maintenance of SAP ERP taking into account the mission, vision and values of a company. The functional framework of the project included the processes in the following areas: Finance, Procurement and Supply, Sales, Management Accounting, Project Management, Consolidation, Budgeting and Analytical Reporting.

During the first stage the company’s business process model was defined and SAP ERP system for 23 structural units was tuned and implemented. In January 2013, a pilot project was started with a three-level support service for ALROSA users: on-site, centralized support service, project office. At the same time, budgeting and consolidation systems were put into place and later an analytical reporting system was in testing production mode for most of 2013.The second stage of the project – the rollout to the 33 business units not included in the pilot project – was successfully completed in the second quarter of 2014.

The ERP-system creation project was a condition for the ALROSA IPO (Initial Public Offering), which was successfully done in 2013. The company’s ambitious plans of the full-scale SAP ERP implementation were successfully fulfilled in large part thanks to the choice of the consulting partner. BearingPoint participated in both stages of the project and proved to be a reliable partner that fulfills its obligations. This allowed us to finish what we needed to do on schedule and within the established budget.

Dmitry Chibisov, Head of the ALROSA IT and Communication Directorate

The ALROSA Corporate Integrated Information Management System project was successfully completed thanks to the support of ALROSA management and the work of the implementation teams from both the customer and our company. The project is unique in terms of the organizational volume and number and profile of users involved. ALROSA plays a big role in the Yakutia region, and we didn’t limit the project to only core activities. We integrated airlines, housing and utilities, medical centers, an entertainment center, and the list goes on. Integration of these businesses into a single informational space, ensuring flawless transfer to the work in the target system through training, informing and motivating employees, was a challenge.
