The management and technology consultancy expands its business in Asia

Shanghai/Frankfurt, July 9, 2013 – Management and technology consultancy BearingPoint ( has expanded its geographical reach with the opening of a new office in Shanghai, China. Already in 2011 BearingPoint initiated a strategic alliance with ABeam Consulting to cover the Asian markets. With the founding of a wholly-owned entity in China and from its new office in Shanghai, BearingPoint will be better positioned to address the increasing business activities in this key market and the demand of its key European customers to provide local consulting services and talent. BearingPoint is now present in 17 countries via wholly-owned subsidiaries. BearingPoint and ABeam will further expand their services for the Chinese market and intensify their local collaboration.

Over the last three years BearingPoint and ABeam have successfully delivered a number of project engagements in China with a focus on multinational companies (MNC) from Germany, France and other European countries and their local subsidiaries. One key challenge of MNCs in China is to develop and implement functional business strategies, organizational structures and processes that are efficient and effective in a continuously changing and growing business and investment environment.

Peter Mockler, Managing Partner at BearingPoint: “We serve our clients all around the globe. In countries outside our home territories we do this on one hand through our strategic alliances. In addition, we open own offices in regions in which our clients see their future business potential. Thus, we invest together with our clients to be where they need us to be. With ABeam we already have a reliable and trusted alliance partner in China, which will benefit immediately from our investment.”

Hunglin Tang, Managing Director in Greater China Region at ABeam: “We collaborate in the Chinese market and pool our resources and capabilities depending on our client’s business issues. The BearingPoint investment in China is a positive signal for our alliance and our strong belief in further development and growth of the business consulting market in China.”

Bayer HealthCare, a world leading innovative company in the healthcare industry and one of BearingPoint’s customers in China comments on BearingPoint’s investment decision: “The Chinese market remains a top growth region for our firm in the future. For us it is important to know that one of our trusted advisors for large business transformation tasks has capabilities to support us not only in our home markets but also abroad.”

As of July 2013, Yvon Donval, Partner at BearingPoint, and Jan Bernstorf, Director at BearingPoint, will be relocated to Shanghai to establish the local consulting practice.
Yvon Donval: “Our objective is to serve our clients in China with the same dedication and passion as in Europe. We are able to leverage successful European services and assets and localize them to Chinese requirements. Among them are, for example, assets like the emissions calculator LogEC or the big data analysis tool Hypercube, and to a greater extent, the rich business consulting expertise around functional strategy, organizational restructuring, business process re-design, and IT transformation.”
