Executive Summary

The idea of the BearingPoint CSR Creative Marathon is to pair BearingPoint professionals with social organizations to provide one day of services to those who cannot afford them. The Creative Marathon is a whole-day workshop wherein our people use their professional skills to work on specific requests with four non-profit organizations on a pro bono basis.

How we helped, marketing-wise

Together with a pro bono consulting partner, we identified four non-profit organizations that would benefit from our CSR Creative Marathon.

  1. Friends-for-Hope e.V. (education projects)
  2. Aryatara Institut e.V. (study programs/Tibet)
  3. SpendeZeit e.V. (mediation of voluntary activity)
  4. KulturLife gGmbH (cultural-exchange programs)

These organizations mentioned that they would need support in tackling some specific challenges.

One challenge at a time!

All organizations signaled that they would bring an organizational challenge in the context of marketing and communication to the table: one wanted to work on their USP (unique selling proposition), another aimed at challenging their organization strategy. So, we won over our firmwide marketing leader and other marketing and consulting professionals to facilitate the pro bono workshops. We met in Berlin and had a whole day of hard work and input. As an introduction, our marketing leader gave an overview of trending marketing topics related to the specific needs of non-profit organizations. Then, the actual work started! In four working groups, small consulting teams used the day to tackle specific non-profit needs.

So what´s the deal? Was the Creative Marathon well received?

The right questions at the right time in the right place! Through the workshop we received valuable input and are now implementing this at Friends for Hope e.V.

Thomas & Tim Thirolf, Board of Friends for Hope e.V.

The CSR Creative Marathon was very useful. The view from outside of our organization was helpful, the feedback from the advisors friendly and constructive.

Sabine Hueppelshaeuser, Chairwoman Aryatara Institut e. V.

My previous experience with companies’ ‘Social Days’ was actually hands-on actions. I always wondered whether BearingPoint would also support skill donations. The CSR Creative Marathon for me is an ingenious and enriching match: it combines social commitment with our knowledge and experience that we can pass on.
