This eliminates reliance on outdated servers and removes the cost and effort of maintaining an on-premises infrastructure.
The new system has streamlined key financial and operational processes, such as bank imports, approvals, and intercompany postings, reducing manual work and improving accuracy. Seamless integration with Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint creates a unified Microsoft 365 environment that enhances collaboration, decision making, and overall productivity.
The cloud platform also positions Framespace Solutions for continued growth. It easily scales with higher transaction volumes, multientity structures, and advanced reporting needs. Power BI now provides real time insights, and sandbox environments allow safe testing and continuous improvement.
What we did: A structured transformation journey from process review to Cloud migration
Framespace Solutions turned to BearingPoint to streamline its processes and strengthen its operational setup. First, the project team carried out a thorough process review to identify inefficiencies and define where simplification and automation would bring the most value. BearingPoint then improved bank imports, approval workflows, and data management, and ran co‑design workshops to align Finance, Operations, and Management. This implied setting clear governance, roles, and communication routines.
BearingPoint then upgraded Framespace Solutions’s on-premises system to Business Central SaaS, using Microsoft’s migration tools to ensure a seamless and low-risk transition. The phase included managing important technical aspects such as attachments, user setup, Integration with M365 Apps, permissions, and configuring reporting. A systematic quality assurance procedure was used to verify both the data and the functionality, and transparency was maintained during migration by providing consistent updates.
Throughout the project, BearingPoint provided Framespace Solutions with targeted training on new features, workflows, permissions, and Power BI. The ongoing advisory support facilitated Framespace Solutions’s adoption of industry’s best practices and enabled strategic planning for future enhancements, such as payables automation, and optimized inventory management.
The starting point: Addressing on-premises system limitations
Framespace Solutions is a growing company whose financial and operational activities rely heavily on Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. As the business expanded, its legacy On Premises system could no longer keep pace, leading to bottlenecks, manual workarounds, and rising maintenance costs. Critical processes, such as bank imports, approvals, and data handling, became increasingly slow and labor intensive.
Because the system was coming end of life, meaning it would no longer be supported by Microsoft, Framespace Solutions also faced security risks, limited access to updates, and no possibility of adopting new features. The lack of modern integration capabilities prevented smooth connectivity with Microsoft 365, resulting in duplicated effort, reduced visibility, and higher operational overhead.
Moreover, essential tasks like migrating attachments, setting up users, and managing items required significant manual intervention, highlighting just how outdated and restrictive the legacy platform had become.
