A new survey of the European automotive industry revealed that, while free and open source software (FOSS) is even more pervasive in the development cycle than anticipated, the necessary FOSS governance processes are lacking, at best.

This webinar will provide important insights into the study results, including:

  • How and why the automotive industry is looking to FOSS as a source of differentiation and competitive advantage
  • The importance of proper governance and compliance processes, and key factors to consider when creating these processes
  • The level of engagement automotive companies have within the broader open source community

Conducted by European-based management consultancy BearingPoint and scientifically guided by Professor Riehle, head of the Open Source Research Group at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, this first-of-its-kind survey includes responses from more than 25 leading automotive industry companies in eight countries. The project was sponsored by Black Duck Software. Webinar speakers will include Claus-Peter Wiedemann, Senior Manager, BearingPoint and Phil Odence, Vice President of Business Development, Black Duck Software.
