In a context where luxury industry is dominated by vast conglomerates, and where recent speculations make believe in a potential Kering takeover on Moncler, the latest's CEO, Remo Ruffini, played down these rumors, precising that there is no deal in the works.  Listed on Milan's bourse six years ago, Moncler managed to develop its market in Asia. To go further in they expansion, a conglomerate would help Moncler thrive in social media as giants like LVMH or Kering spend huge amounts on social media marketing and hire famous designers. However, at the moment, analysts are not sure that this takeover would fit.

IKEA is about to open 20 new stores in India. After having inaugurated its first store in Hyderabad in August 2018, the Swedish furniture manufacturer had to ask its clients not to come because of a huge success (around 30.000 visitors each day). Before this great enthusiasm, IKEA decided to pursue its conquest of India, which now represents its third Asian partner. These investments are tremendous for the clountry's development as it represents several hundreds of million dollars.

Notable trends in the sector

A few years ago, the future of home delivery for online purchases was said to be flying drones or flying cars. However, a new trend seems to be emerging, much easier to implement because the method already exists.. Bicycle delivery! Number of those is increasing everyday: indeed, bicycles can go everywhere without being stopped and enables up to 5 stops per hour against 3 for a truck. Moreover, bicycles can be heavily loaded as the "cargo" ones can bear up to 100 kg. A green and efficient alternative!

L'Oréal and Prada have come to an agreement that the French beauty leader would create, develop and distribute high-end make up, fragrances as well as cosmetics in the name of the Italian fashion brand. L'Oréal takes the deal over Puig - who had been in charge since 2003 - and wins the deal against Coty in the worldwide beauty leader's race.

Between 2014 and 2018,  Carrefour, Auchan and Casino have lost 2.7 billion euros in turnover, according to a survey by the specialized magazine Linéaires.The reason ? a change in the habits of consumers who now favor local retailers and postpone their non-food purchases to e-commerce. Particularly affected by this hypers crisis, Carrefour embarked on a vast plan to restructure its hypermarkets last spring. The group plans to fire 3,000 employees as part of a collective agreement breakup project.
