The winners of this year’s start-up contest Be an Innovator by BearingPoint have been selected! Ten student teams from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Romania qualified for the grand finale in Berlin, where they presented their digital project ideas in front of the BearingPoint jury. Team Skipper from Switzerland won first place with their digital solution for SMEs, in order to provide these with more price transparency and benchmark opportunities within the freight container logistic sector.
On 05th May 2017 ten teams presented their digital project idea in front oft he BearingPoint jury and showed a wide variety of innovation and creativity.
The finale took place at the co-working and event space “Factory Berlin” in Berlin Mitte. Here, young start-ups and entrepreneurs work on innovative business ideas everyday. This atmosphere and the industrial flair of the location was the perfect surrounding for the Be an Innovator finale 2017.
The first place, with a prize money of 8,000 Euro and one year of consulting from BearingPoint, was won by the Swiss Team Skipper from HSG University St.Gallen. Timarian Rust and Andreas Beirholm presented their business model, which was developed for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in order to provide these with more price transparency in the freight container logistics sector. The focus of this digital platform is on the freight routes between the USA and Europe and is supposed to empower SMEs to optimize their logistics and to create a stronger basis for negotiation.
The team now has the opportunity, with the support from BearingPoint, to realize their idea and to take the next step with their start-up. Timarian Rust stated after winning the contest: "The Be an Innovator event from BearingPoint was an outstanding learning opportunity for us due to the intensive support. Having won, we are excited to continue working with BearingPoint as a competent and resourceful partner."
