In a world of increasing digitalization Business Process Management (BPM) – the active design, control and measurement of processes – becomes even more important. Companies that want to leverage the opportunities provided by digital business need to consider transforming processes, products, the organization and business models in parallel.

For this transformation different dimensions need to be aligned, such as anchoring BPM in the organization, support from IT or the standardized use of techniques. Therefore, analyzing internal processes within an organization becomes even more important.

BearingPoint and BPM&O have conducted a multi-sector survey with more than 280 participants (more than 90% from Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

The results of the study reveal that

  • BPM is considered an important topic which is anticipated to increase
  • the focus of BPM is not only reducing process costs but also the alignment of processes to clients
  • companies still need to catch up in measuring and managing processes
  • top management support continues to be one of the most important factors for successful process management implementation.

The results of the Study are available for download as a management summary and in detailed presentation format.
