On the subject of rolling stock procurement, acceptance and delivery, there has been much attention in recent months in the industry and press.

In fact rolling stock design & production are complex tasks. Technical challenges on safety for example and different regional requirements from operators need to be orchestrated and have impacts on life cycle costs and lead times. A more balanced way between ‘customized’ design and ‘standardized’ approaches with reusable platforms and/or components might be the next evolution step.

This will require a new way of working for the rail industry. Already, companies are changing their approach, with increased collaboration on the rise, according to a new BearingPoint rolling stock survey.

But can closer collaboration lead to better quality and reliability? And what are the key success factors to ensure proper design and timely delivery of rolling stock? What investments will be necessary to realize this?

The roundtable takes place on January 28 2015 at Bensberg Castle close to Cologne to discuss and debate ways to overcome some of the most business critical challenges to the rail industry at the present time.

The event is aimed at executives and decision makers of all parties who are involved in the life cycle management process of rolling stock like manufacturers, suppliers, railway undertakings, acceptance bodies and maintenance operators.
