The current pharmaceutical market is in constant change with increasing opportunities and pitfalls for pharmaceutical companies regarding digitalization. Pharmaceutical companies need to develop a holistic
strategy to gain sustainable advantages. That means considering the core business, potential new competitors from the tech industry, the power of customers and suppliers and potential new products, and services.

The survey results show that the digital wave will hit the pharmaceutical industry within the next three years and 2/3 of all participants will be influenced by digital innovations in their day-to-day business. The greatest
gains for digitalization are seen in supply chain management, marketing and finance.

Going digital implies major cultural change including new ways of working together, sharing knowledge and creating a new level of innovating power. This transformation is not possible without taking risk, but this step is imperative to meet today’s customer expectations and retain competitive ability
